E01 - What Is Resilience?
Welcome to Episode 1 of “How to build your Resilience”!
I clarify that Resilience is about 3 things:
Successfully adapting to change
Recovering from challenging experiences
Playing to your Strengths and Springing Forward having learnt!
I am not a fan of the term “bounce-back” when describing Resilience, as I am concerned that people will not then pause, re-energise, reflect and learn from their experiences. Most experiences change us in either a small or larger way and being adaptable (open to change) is a significant part of being Resilient.
Therefore, I much prefer the idea that we continue to build our Resilience when we Spring Forward, having learnt.
This episode also highlights the difference between Positivity and Optimism and that being Optimistic is more appropriate.
