The Importance of a Resilient Attitude
So, if you’ve followed my previous blogs in this series, you should have a clear understanding of exactly what a resilient attitude is, and also the steps you need to take in your day-to-day life to develop one.
I now want to discuss its importance.
There’s absolutely no doubt that today’s modern workplace is an ever-changing and sometimes extremely stressful environment.
When the natural resilience bred inside us as children can’t handle the pressure, we can, unfortunately, experience trauma and begin to feel helpless and worthless.
Workers need to be resilient to cope and “Spring Forward with Learning” from challenging situations, most often taking these as opportunities for success.
Resilience is critical in the workplace as employees can better manage work-related stress, develop competitiveness in the job market, and handle any challenges with confidence and an open mind.
A lack of resilience can create stress and anxiety - impacting workplace productivity and relationships.
Resilience is the fuel that powers us to develop an optimistic approach to life, making it possible for us to stay motivated and feel more positive in times of adversity and solve problems in the workplace.
Resilience is essential in the workplace. Resilience is strength, and you need it to achieve your career goals.
With a resilient attitude you can:
Stay motivated in the face of crisis;
Develop the strength to deal with change;
Avoid stress, anxiety, and burnout;
Improve your overall health;
Improve your mental health – reducing absenteeism;
Build better relationships among workers and managers;
Be ready to give and receive help;
Enjoy enhanced communication.
