Seven years – but certainly no ‘itch’

Gosh, where have the past 7 years gone?!

There’s no doubt that time flies quickly, but even I was surprised when I recently realised that I’d reached the landmark business anniversary of seven years.

That anniversary is often associated with the phrase ‘seven-year itch,’ – the thought that boredom, frustration, and regret might be setting in, and a desire to do something different.

However, there’s absolutely no chance of that with me!

Indeed, the passion, motivation, excitement, and sense of purpose that drove me to set up The Resilience Coach back in 2015 is still as strong as ever.

Those of you who are regular followers of my blogs may remember my bold statement “By the year 2025, I want to positively affect 100 000 people.”

So, how am I doing with this pledge?

Recent reflection leads me to believe that so far, I’ve ‘positively affected’ 25,500 people.

You might ask me how I judge this. Well, quite often, it can be as simple as reading their body language and noticing that they’ve had a weight lifted off their shoulders or a frown has turned into a smile and a look of positive determination that they know what they’re going to do next.

But most rewarding is when people tell me directly how they’re feeling.

I recently completed the final module of a 6-Module Leadership Development Programme for a local authority when one of the delegates said to me: “You’re a fantastic facilitator and coach Russell, actually you’re inspirational. Before I started this programme, I was feeling de-energised and overwhelmed. Now I feel like I've got my purpose and energy back. and that's down to you."

And another added: “Actually Russell, I know I've been around for a while and can be quite cynical, however, this is the best development I've ever had."

I can’t start to say how much such comments mean to me and endorse the quality and purpose of what I’m doing.

I am incredibly grateful for the recent feedback. Photo Element 5 Unsplash

As well as these comments, I’ve also reflected on what else I’ve achieved in the past seven years.

  • Secured 40 different clients/organisations across the world.

  • Worked with 50 Coaching clients.

  • Recorded 10 Podcasts with 150 downloads.

  • Written 40+ blogs with 100's of downloads.

  • Hosted my own show on Yowah Radio with over 10,000 listeners.

  • Facilitated 1500 sessions with an average of 20 delegates – reaching 30,000 people.

  • Delivered countless networking presentations.

  • Been ‘guest’ speaker at over 20 events.

I’m extremely proud of all this – and, I believe, rightly so. For a start-up business I believe this is some achievement over seven years.

So, whilst thanking all my dedicated followers for the support they’ve given me over the years, all I can do now is look ahead to the next seven years – and plenty more seven years after that.
